Book Review - Granny's Christmas Blunder

About the Book
In Granny’s Christmas Blunder, a new children’s book by Scott Murray, a baseball bat-wielding grandma takes Santa down.

A poetic holiday adventure, Granny’s Christmas Blunder is the story of a grandmother who, thinking he is a thief, hits Santa Claus over the head with a baseball bat, knocking him out cold. To fix the situation, Granny jumps into Santa’s sleigh and takes off to deliver the remaining Christmas presents and save the holiday.

Drawing inspiration from his five children, Murray hopes that the book offers a fun, light-hearted break from the issues children face today.

“Children have to deal with so much more and grow up so much faster than they used to,” says Murray. “The book offers an escape and a chance to just be children for a little longer.”

While Granny’s Christmas Blunder is meant to be light-hearted, it is not without a message.

“I want to convey that everyone makes mistakes,” says Murray. “Obviously, Granny made a pretty big mistake here but she did what she needed to do to fix it.”

Murray wants readers to understand that mistakes happen but if we take responsibility for them, there is always the opportunity to make things right.

About the Author
Scott Murray was born in Bloomington, Minnesota and raised in Bozeman, Montana. He has lived in three different countries and has moved more than 13 times with his wife and 5 children and he currently lives in Denver, Colorado. He have been writing stories for his children for twenty years but this is the first story he has ever published as a book. Ironically this story was the only story not written for his kids but for his favorite (and only) Mother-In-Law who has gone to great lengths to make sure he always has his snack mix! This book was also designed to keep Scott in her good graces and help him remain her favorite son-in-law, that way the snack mix keeps coming!

My Take on the Book
This was such a fun Christmas book that not only kept me laughing, but also kept my kids in stitches from beginning to end. The book had a nice rhyming tone that lasted throughout the book and my girls loved the mes that Grandma got into on Christmas. The book was fun and the illustrations simply pulled you into the story. All-in-all, this was a story that was both engaging and interactive and will leave you with a smile on your face in the end!
