Book Review - Even Aliens Need Snacks

About the Book
In the follow up to his breakout picture book, Even Monsters Need Haircuts, Matthew McElligott brings back the young barber in a new tale where his culinary concoctions bring him galaxy-wide fame. Creating snacks that make most humans queasy, this chef has found a new clientele-aliens. Readers will delight in McElligott's gently offbeat humor and unique artistry as spaceships full of hilarious creatures line up for a taste of the intergalactic cuisine. For space fans, foodies, and budding entrepreneurs alike, this book has something for everyone.

My Take on the Book
Some children naturally love to cook and delve into experimenting with food at an early age. Matthew McElligott has written a story about a young chef who decides to make snacks for aliens and ultimately the aliens arrive to eat everything he makes. The creatures Matthew drew are so creative and I believe children will love them.

As our young chef cooks, he seems to have the knack at matching up the snack with the alien's tastes. One day that does not happen and the aliens depart, however you will be surprised at the ending of the story which is quite funny.

I could vision this story as a springboard for you and your child to cook something together. Find out what the family enjoys and make decisions about baking , sauteing , mixing, and chopping up some tasty creations of your own. Have fun!
