My Take on the Book
Michael Dahl has written a sturdy board book with a little penguin and his mother as the main characters. The book teaches manners. Little penguin wants something to eat and drink, but mother penguin patiently explains he must say "please" which he learns to do well. It is a nice way to introduce the concept of "please" and "thank you" to your young child. The book is short so you could initiate other ways that the words "please" and "thank you" could be used by your child. Oriol Vidal's large and colorful illustrations are perfect for a young child.
