About the Book
She grew up in a world where women were supposed to be quiet. But Malala Yousafzai refused to be silent. She defied the Taliban's rules, spoke out for education for every girl, and was almost killed for her beliefs. This powerful true story of how one brave girl named Malala changed the world proves that one person really can make a difference.

My Take on the Book
Rebecca Langston- George's biography of Malala is a story that can be read aloud or an older child could read independently. It is a story that needs to be read/shared with our children. The author has done and excellent job relating the facts concerning the challenges, hopes , and dreams of seventeen year old Malala. The author shows the bravery of this young girl and her parents as she strives to keep her right to receive an education.

Through the text and illustrations , you will be able to learn and see how dangerous it was for girls to go to school. Our children do not have those same issues and I believe this story could be an excellent springboard for a discussion about the freedom to attend school and those children who cannot.

This is a story to inspire our children to be the best student they can be and to not take their education for granted.
