About the Book
It's time for a field trip! Fly Guy and Buzz are going to the zoo to learn all about snakes. With straightforward text, humorous asides, and kid-friendly full-bleed photographs throughout, young readers will love learning about these slithery creatures. Award-winning author/illustrator Tedd Arnold really brings nonfiction to life for beginning readers! And this book has eye-catching holographic foil on the front cover!
My Take on the Book
Todd Arnold has written a nonfiction story for children between the ages of kindergarten and second grade. The reading level is around second grade. I believe this book will appeal to boys and girls who enjoy learning about animals and in particular snakes.
The book is full of photographs of various kinds of snakes. The information is written well and easy to understand..
I learned some interesting new facts: the scales of a snake are made of keratin which is the same material that our fingernails are made of. Another fact is that all snakes have the ability to swim. The final fact I will share is that during the reign of the dinosaurs there was a snake that was 40 feet long and weighed 2500 pounds.
