About the Book
It's summertime in Stermont! And it's...SNOWING?!

This series is part of Scholastic's early chapter book line called Branches, which is aimed at newly independent readers. With easy-to-read text, high-interest content, fast-paced plots, and illustrations on every page, these books will boost reading confidence and stamina. Branches books help readers grow!

In this seventh book, it's summertime in Stermont! Alexander, Rip, and Nikki are at summer camp up in the Gloamy Mountains. And it is REALLY hot! But suddenly, it starts snowing - and with the snow comes the snombies! Snombies are snow monsters that can build armies of themselves! Will the S.S.M.P. be able to stop their coolest monster yet?

My Take on the Book
Troy Cummings has written a chapter book at a reading level of grade two . The subject matter would appeal to first through third graders.

This is an adventure story with lots of fantasy included in the text. As Alexander, Pip, and Nikki attend a week of summer camp, strange noises and events occur. The blockhead ice crusher is out to devour the campers. He uses snombies to assist him in his evil crime. However the campers prove they are smarter. (your child will learn that salt will melt snow and ice).

There is much action and adventure for the campers. The main characters prove to the reader and themselves that they can problem solve as a team. A happy ending comes about for the campers but not the snombies and blockhead ice crusher.
