Book Review - Little Elliott, Big City
About the Book
Amid the hustle and bustle of the big city, the big crowds and bigger buildings, Little Elliot leads a quiet life. In spite of the challenges he faces, Elliot finds many wonderful things to enjoy—like cupcakes! And when his problems seem insurmountable, Elliot discovers something even sweeter—a friend. Mike Curato is a debut talent to watch. Publishers Weekly just compared his work to Chris Van Allsburg and William Joyce in a starred review. There is something very timeless and classic about this book and everyone at Macmillan is thrilled to introduce Little Elliot to readers.
My Take on the Book
Mike Curato has written a story perfect for a young child. Most young children are small and live in a world where most things are difficult for them to reach. Little Elliott has the same problem. This is a story your young child could easily identify with as you read it.
The ending is perfect as Little Elliott meets a mouse who is smaller and needs his help. The mouse helps Elliott too. Of course your child will hopefully see how even though they are small they can find ways to help too.
Such a sweet story to share with your young child.
