Following its announcement of funding from key Silicon Valley investors last month, Collegefeed today announced that it has opened its doors to users from around the world – to help college students and new grads jumpstart their careers, wherever they are. Users can try out the new networking portal, which helps them to build a global network of peers within their field of interest. Plus, Collegefeed unveils a new awards program that enables employers to engage directly with students. Check out the first “Idea Swag” sponsored by eBay, “How Would You Make PayPal Mobile More Useful for College Students?” to win one of 15 iPhone 5c’s.

“Networking is not an easy skill for college students, since most tend to live in a small bubble of friends and classmates,” said Sanjeev Agrawal, CEO and co-founder of Collegefeed. “However we know that successful networking is the number one way to secure a new job or expand your career. We’re thrilled to be opening our doors to students from any school, in any country – to help make meaningful professional connections in a world that is becoming less siloed and increasingly flat for companies and job-seekers alike.”

How it Works: Network with Peers Anywhere

When a student logs in to Collegefeed, they will see a list of “Interesting Collegefeeders” on their dashboard. This list is tailored for the student based on his or her background and interests. The user can then easily view the profile and connect with the recommended students. To build the network, Collegefeed analyzes the user’s background and interests and then suggests students they might find interesting to connect with and consider building a professional relationship. Typically the students presented currently attend or have already graduated from a different university, which means they are likely not already connected via other networks.

“Thanks to Collegefeed, I can now connect with international students with quality startups and small companies – platforms that we would otherwise never come in contact with,” said Siddharth Gupta, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras. “Coming into contact with such companies at an early stages of their life can really be a catalyst to starting your career.”

“Collegefeed offers an incredible opportunity to ambitious international students to showcase their skills alongside some of the best in the world,” said Anjishnu Kumar, BITS Pilani. “The sheer potential of this platform gives me goosebumps. I can't wait to see what happens as it grows. This is an idea whose time has come.”

Launched nationwide in May 2013, Collegefeed is a personal career assistant that helps students and new grads land their dream jobs using its free online platform. Employers use Collegefeed to brand themselves more effectively to students and find the perfect candidate for entry-level positions. Students have already made connections, secured interviews, jobs, internships and financial awards with companies like YouTube, eBay, Morgan Stanley, Microsoft, Saavn, Adroll and many more.
