Book Review - Bluebonnet at the Ocean Star Museum

About the Book
In the latest book of the Bluebonnet Adventure Series, our favorite armadillo explores the Ocean Star Museum in Galveston, Texas, to learn about offshore oil rigs and drilling. While moseying along the boardwalk at the Galveston harbor, Bluebonnet meets Red, the knowledgeable brown pelican who encourages her to follow a school group on their tour of the museum. Bluebonnet secretly follows the group, learning about the offshore oil system, life on a drilling rig, and offshore history. She discovers that the museum itself is an old offshore rig where people lived and drilled beneath the sea for oil. She even learns that since its opening as a museum and education center in 1997, the rig has taught kids that more than six thousand products are made from petroleum and that abandoned platforms become reefs, which provide a home for marine life. As the museum tour comes to an end, the kids notice Bluebonnet trailing along on their journey. As they stand speechless on the skywalk, Bluebonnet hops aboard a departing shrimp boat with Red. The pair leaves the harbor to see some offshore drilling rigs in action. After all, Bluebonnet is always ready for a new adventure!

My Take on the Book
Mary Brooke Casad has written many books with Bluebonnet the armadillo as the main character. These books teach children about the area they live in and special places too. In this particular book, Bluebonnet visits a museum which specializes in educating the public about offshore oil rigs and drilling.

I really enjoyed reading this story, and I learned so much. The book is written in language even a young child would understand. I believe the factual information contained in this story would enhance the education of any family, but especially our children.
