DVD Review - You’ve Got a Friend

About the Movie
Starring John Schneider (“Smallville,” “Hot in Cleveland”), Dylan McLaughlin (“iCarly,” Kicking and Screaming), Chase Ellison (Tooth Fairy, Unstoppable) and Bitty Schram (“Monk,” A League of Their Own) - this story is the true meaning of family and friendship, and shows that you should never close the door on your dreams.

A little more about the film - Set in 1976, San Diego native Bobby Graham (McLaughlin) loses his parents to a car accident and is sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Eagle Rock. Determined to follow in his late father’s footsteps he sets out to accomplish his dream of winning the American Soapbox Derby with the help of an unlikely friend, war veteran and town recluse, Jim Klecan (Schneider). Bobby may think that Jim is helping him to win the race, but it is really Jim who needed the help from a friend to bring him back to life.

My Take on the DVD
If you have ever had a dream that was realized or unrealized, this movie will mean something to you. You have the opportunity within this movie to be inspired and motivated, as well as be drawn into a movie with strong undertones and messages and friendship that you will want to share with your whole family. On top of this I loved the relationship that you see that develops between Bobby and Jim and you come to find that even though at first you think it is Bobby that needs Jim, that instead it really is the other way around. As the movie continues, you see the relationship between the two of them and the other characters flourish and develop into something special. Hallmark has done another great job at making a family friendly film for the whole family!
