Book Review - Healthy Foods from A to Z / Comida sana de la A a la Z

About the Book
Helping children learn about healthy foods as well as their ABCs this bilingual picture book in English and Spanish features colorful photographs of engaging faces made of fruits, vegetables, grains, dairy, and soy products. A sample sketch with instructions, followed by additional suggested activities, helps children create their own food faces and connect with peers and teachers. An informative section for parents highlights the nutritional value of 70 foods illustrated in the book. The interactive pages and charming illustrations by well-known food photographer Renae Comet will invite children to visit the book over and over again.

My Take on the Book
This is the most innovative alphabet book I have seen. Each alphabet page has an interesting face depicting an emotion created with healthy foods beginning with the alphabet letter. The words are written in Spanish and English.

The foods are easy to identify through the photographs. You and your child can discuss which foods you already eat and which foods you can explore next.

The back of the book has a list of food projects which will give you a chance to interact with your child. Lastly there is a list of all the foods used in the book with interesting facts.

I can see this book used as a resource to help a family plan meals together.
