Game Review - Battleship (WII)

About the Game
Gear up and prepare to sail directly into an alien-infested war-at-sea in the all-new BATTLESHIP game. During a routine naval exercise, a destructive alien threat emerges from the depths of the ocean and places a stronghold trap, a “dome of terror”, on the US Navy, disabling all naval support communications. As the unknown alien invaders disrupt the serene seas of the Hawaiian Islands, the US Naval fleet must quickly rally together and save humankind. Take control of specialized elite Naval crew members and direct real-world vessels like submarines, destroyers, frigates, and battleships. With tactical strategy, deploy naval units onto the marine battlefield to track and destroy invading aliens. Engage in head-to-head combat and deploy hacked tsunami buoys against these invaders. Unlock new combat maps and more naval units to stay ahead in each epic sea battle! BATTLESHIP for the Wii, 3DS, and DS is rated E10+ for Everyone 10+ by the ESRB. There is also a different BATTLESHIP game available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 that features a mix of FPS and strategy gameplay, which is rated T for Teen by the ESRB.

Key Features:
  • Turn-Based Fun: BATTLESHIP for Wii and 3DS/DS combines the classic strategy gameplay from the original Battleship game with a unique story mode, with elements of actual naval warfare command, which puts the player in charge of a real naval fleet.
  • Unique Characters, Special Abilities: Control a selection of elite Navy personnel, each with their very own special ability to be used in combat.
  • Tactical Strategy: Direct real-world naval vessels like Frigates, Subs, Destroyers, Patrol Boats and Battleships using your very own brand of careful calculation. • Limitless Fun: Unlock maps and naval officers to use in a customizable Skirmish mode as you fight your way towards triumph!

My Take on the Game
This was such an action packed game! If you have not seen this movie yet you may not appreciate all of the nuances of the game and how well it connects back to the movie, but even if you have not seen the movie yet (though you should), you are brought into a great game full of high paced action, amazing graphics and fun interactive game play. So far in playing this my favorite part is playing in Duel mode. I have not explored all aspects of the game yet, but I love what I have found thus far. I know that in growing up I loved playing the game battleship, and this game takes the old board game to a level that I would have never even considered in the 1980's. I highly encourage all to go out and try this game for yourselves, as you will not be disappointed!
