Book Review - Split! Splat!

About the Book
A delightful, rainy day celebration!

I sing a little rain song, a simple song, a plain song, a pitter-patter-tip-tap-on-the-windowpane song. Drip drop, plip plop, pit pat, split splat! Put down your umbrella! Take off your galoshes! It's time to sing and dance in the rain. When one little girl and her adorable dog venture out on a rainy, spring day, the neighborhood joins her and what results is squishy, sloshy, muddy day fun.

Amy Gibson’s simple, whimsical rhymes and New York Times bestselling illustrator Steve Bjorkman’s bright and sweet illustrations create the perfect celebration of nature and friendship in this springtime, anytime rhyme!

My Take on the Book
Amy Gibson and Steve Bjorkman have produced a delightful book for young children. The adjectives Amy Gibson uses to describe the rain, mud , and sun adventures blend beautifully with the illustrations created by Steve Bjorkman.

Reading the book made me want to find a rainy day and take off my shoes and enjoy the fun in the puddles and mud. The book describes the squishy soft mud between one's toes as "mucka mucka chucka wucka splish splash sploosh". Doesn't that just make you want to join in the fun of the rainy muddy day along with your young child?

I love the ending in the bathtub. There was no adult telling the child that she should not have enjoyed her day playing in the mud and rain. We need to give our young children these tactile experiences.

This is a book you will want to read and enjoy over and over again.
