Book Review - Constantly Craving: How to Make Sense of Always Wanting More

About the Book
Speaker and author Marilyn Meberg tackles the subject of why humans crave, walking readers through the reasons and offering some ways for them to understand and deal with it.

We all crave more-more romance, more money, more fun, more peace, more time, more meaning, more purpose, more, more, more. We go through life with a thirst that is unquenchable. Since in this life we can never experience the thirst that is fully quenched, we instead continue to follow our cravings in an effort to find some kind of satisfaction. But that is not to be here on earth. It's there in heaven.

In Constantly Craving, Marilyn discusses our various cravings and offers understanding about why they exist-and how to better manage them. She approaches the subject with the wisdom coming from a long and successful career that has included a professional counseling practice, teaching college English, and leading women's Bible studies. She has put this all together in a book that will answer the reader's question-Will I ever stop my craving for more?

After completing this book, readers will understand:

  • Cravings do not mean we are shallow or lacking in faith.
  • Cravings can be tamed.
  • God is using cravings to bring us to him.
  • Heaven is worth the wait!

My Take on the Book
This is a serious book that talks about things that each of us face on a daily basis. She talks about the cravings that each of us have in life, the things that each of us need to feel fulfilled, wanted and appreciated in life, and she does this through a combination of psychology and spirituality. I did not know what to expect in this book, whether there would be humor or light-hearted examinations of these cravings,, but what I found was true passion for this topic and a in depth examination of the topic in general. This was a powerful book that will make you examine the cravings within your own life and will also make you consider the things that mean most to you as well. I encourage all to read it!
