Book review - Children of the Street

About the Book
In the slums of Accra, Ghana’s fast-moving, cosmopolitan capital, teenagers are turning up dead. Inspector Darko Dawson has seen many crimes, but this latest string of murders—in which all the young victims bear a chilling signature—is the most unsettling of his career. Are these heinous acts a form of ritual killing or the work of a lone, cold-blooded monster? With time running out, Dawson embarks on a harrowing journey through the city’s underbelly and confronts the brutal world of the urban poor, where street children are forced to fight for their very survival—and a cunning killer seems just out of reach.

My Take on the Book
While I have never read any of this author's writing before, I was impressed by the overall writing style of the book as well as the characters and the plot as shared within the confines of this book. While I am a mystery lover, this book was a book that took mystery to a whole new level. You are taken into a whole new world of diverse cultural mores and values that are unknown in the world that at least I live within. You are transported into a world where kids rule the streets and have them own way of dealing with issues. The author does a great job at filling the pages with rich description, and the characters are ones that simply jump off the page.

This was a great book that will definitely jump off the page and will keep you engaged from beginning to end.
