Book Review - Che Guevara: A Manga Biography

About the Book
CHE GUEVARA: A Manga Biography (Penguin Paperback; On-Sale: October 26, 2010; ISBN: 978-0-9817543-2-1; $15.00; 192pp.), illustrated by Chie Shimano with story by Kiyoshi Konno, details the life of the legendary Argentine who, alongside Fidel Castro, led the Cuban Revolution in 1959.

Before his rise to revolutionary fame, Ernesto "Che" Guevara de la Serna, born on June 14, 1928, in Rosario, Argentina, was a middle-class medical student who traveled South America on a motorcycle with his close friend Alberto Granado. It was on this trip—witnessing social injustice, political persecution, and worker exploitation—that he found his energy for activism and vowed to fight for the poor.

My Take on the Book

This biography was a great one that opened my eyes to Che Guevara and all that he did and accomplished. Though great illustrations you are introduced to the world and the struggles that this man worked against. While I had heard about this man, I cannot say that I knew much about him. This book allowed me t gain a greater respect and understanding for why people even today where his image on shirts.
