Book Review - For the Love of Children

About the Book
According to Anna Wahlgren, acknowledged child-raising authority, best-selling author in Sweden, mother and grandmother, the real meaning of life can be found in the timeless, limitless love parents give to their children. Having a child is a life-changing, transformational and profound event that “…is a brush with the infinite,” Wahlgren writes.  But children are not born with instructions.
For that, hundreds of thousands of parents have turned to Wahlgren’s “For The Love Of Children,” one of the world’s most popular guidebooks for childcare and child rearing from pregnancy through the first 16 years of life.
Filled with down-to-earth practical information and sage-like wisdom based on personal experience and the experience of thousands of parents, this book is both entertaining and enlightening for any reader seeking insight into infant and child behavior.  Even more important, it teaches parents how to deal with everything from the care and feeding of a newborn, to doing the right thing if your marriage or relationship fails, and how to cope with being a single parent.
In fact, “For The Love Of Children” offers more than 700 pages of anecdotes, comprehensive solutions, humor and step-by-step instructions for every parent.
Wahlgren has compiled all her experience, observations and teachings from her own life and many examples from others during the last 30 years.  The result is a monumental book that was originally written for her children to use and learn from as they had children of their own.  As a result, “For The Love Of Children” is a deeply personal and revealing book sprung from Wahlgren’s philosophy about love and family relationships, how society has evolved and her insights about raising children in today’s stressful world.
As one reviewer described it, My hope is that the book becomes the family "bible" which is handed down from generation to generation. Anyone reading it will breathe easier and proceed with more confidence. Thank you Anna for giving us guidance at some of the most critical moments in our lives.”
Available now in a hardcover edition on Amazon.com and soon to be in bookstores across the country, Wahlgren’s book sells for $39.95.

My Take on the Book
This book was a treasure trove of great information for any parent. I know that when our kids were born we read through so many books and this book seemed to pull together so many of the books into one book (which was awesome). What I liked about this book was that the author tells the new parents exactly what they need to know to help them through the hurdles that may occur whether it is in the early years or the teenage years.

The book combines great resources with humor and real life experiences to help any parent in becoming the best that they can be. I know that for me this book has now filled a spot on our bookshelf and it will not be leaving anytime soon.

I simply know that there is so many great ideas shared in this book that I know will help me in the future as my girls get older and I look forward to using this to help me in my journey as a parent.
