My Take on the Book

If you love dogs you will enjoy this book with its black and white photos of dogs plus the words of wisdom on each page from famous men and women around the world.

I enjoyed reading the forward to this delightful book which was written by Debbye Turner Bell. She briefly discussed factual information about studies that show the positive aspects of humans having dogs. Some of the interesting facts were:  interactling with a dog reduces stress hormones and increases beneficial ones or dog owning heart patients had higher survival rates than non-owning patients.

As you page through the book and look carefully at the photos , you will be amazed at the dogs' facial expressions. I often wondered what they were thinking as they posed for the photographs. I had several favorites; the dog on page 3 and the one on page 57.

The quotes the author used made me think and often appreciate the wisdom of their remark.
Sir Arthur Pinero:  Those who love deeply never grow old, they may die of old age, but they die young

Cesare Pavese:  We do not remember days, we remember moments

Walker Percy: We love those who know the worst of us and don't turn their faces away

Norman Vincent Peale: Imagination is the true magic carpet

Martin Luther King:  Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend

At the end of the book is a section that pet lovers will want to read. Each page gives information about adopting a pet from a shelter , finding a  pet hotel when you are traveling, or buying medical insurance for your pet.

This book would be a nice gift for a friend or family member who loves dogs and /or has a dog as a pet.
