As you can see in the following clips, Louie is anything but the perfect picture of health! He loves any foods that are bad for you, and two of his favorites are the ever popular ice cream and pizza.
Even though those two foods may not be the healthiest for you, there's no reason why you and your families can't enjoy them in moderation! Here, we take a look at some alternatives to Louie's favorite treats and explore some healthier, kid-friendly options that are easy to make and fun to eat.
- English Muffin Pizza - Using English Muffins is not only a way to cut down on the amount of bread you're eating, but they also double as fun, mini pizzas as well. Cover yours with tomato sauce, and any other topping you can think of - mushrooms, green peppers and pineapple are all healthy alternatives to the greasy sausage and pepperoni that most chains use. Pick your cheese, pop the muffins in the toaster, and voila! - Delicious, personalized mini pizzas for everyone to enjoy.
- Frozen Yogurt - There are dozens of yummy frozen yogurt flavors at your local market, and you can use any of them to make a fantastic sundae! Simply put some scoops into a bowl and cover with your favorite toppings: graham crackers, cereal and berries are all more healthy alternatives to chocolate sauce and sprinkles usually used at ice cream parlors. You could also turn your sundae into a refreshing summer milkshake by putting all of the ingredients into the blender with some ice.
- Popsicles - Having homemade popsicles is one of the easiest desserts ever to make! Simply take your favorite juice, pour it into plastic popsicle containers, pop those into the fridge, and in a matter of hours, you will be slurping on tasty summer treat. For some added fun, look for different shaped popsicle holders at your local store like Target to find designs in the shapes of dinosaurs and sailboats.
