Book Review - When No One Is Watching

About the BookOn the eve of announcing his run for Congress, Blaire Van Howe finds himself in the worst situation imaginable: there has been a deadly car accident and he's the driver. Next to him, Danny Moran, his best friend and a good-hearted alcoholic, is passed out in the passenger's seat, completely unaware of the course his life is about to take. One phone call later and Blair flees the scene, leaving Danny alone in the driver's seat.

Longtime lawyer and chief ethics officer Joseph Hayes spins a tale involving integrity and personal responsibility in his new suspense novel, When No One is Watching. As Danny picks up the pieces of his shattered life, we follow Blair though an elaborate cover-up to salvage his political career, leaving one question in mind: What would you do if no one was watching?

Set in Hayes' native Chicago, ambition, corruption and betrayal feature prominently in this thriller. When No One is Watching also explores the volatile and tragic world of alcoholism through the eyes of Danny Moran, who loses his career, his fortune and his family, yet somehow manages to hold onto his sense of hope and moral compass.

While Blaire and Danny live parallel, but very different lives, one dogged detective digs deeper into the case, leaving the Van Howe campaign reeling. How far will Blair go to serve the greater good and keep his secret hidden?

About the AuthorSince obtaining his law degree from Berkeley, Joseph Hayes has practiced law in Chicago, San Diego and Houston. He currently serves the chief ethics officer for a Fortune 1000 company. Hayes resides in The Woodlands, Texas, with his wife, Susan, and their three children

My Take on the Book
This is a book that is for the person who loves Without repeating the summaries of the novel from the other reviews, I recommend this to readers who love action packed thrillers. As a person who liked these myself, I was excited to read more after I heard the overall plot of the story itself. As I got into the book, I found it to be a book that I couldn't put down.I also found this book to be an easy ready with a great plot and storyline. You are drawn into the characters through the actions that they take as well as the underlying pull of the plot that makes you simply want to know what was going to happen next.

I enjoyed this novel, as you might have guessed from my above statements. Through the complex web that is the plot you are drawn into important themes such as overcoming dependency and taking personal responsibility. You will be enwrapped in this story and you will not be disappointed with the outcome of the story either. You will be on the edge of youe seat until the end of the book!
