US DOT launches compelling "Faces of Distracted Driving" video series

U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today launched “Faces of Distracted Driving,” a series exploring the tragic consequences of texting and cell phone use while driving.  You can watch the videos at: www.distraction.gov/faces.

In 2009, nearly 5,500 people were killed and 500,000 more were injured in distracted driving crashes.  But, as Secretary LaHood says in his introduction to the series, “Behind these numbers are children, parents, neighbors, and friends—their families torn apart by senseless, preventable crashes.”

The three-minute “Faces” videos feature people from across the country whose lives have been forever changed because of texting or cell phone use behind the wheel.  They speak in deeply emotional terms about the loved ones torn from them and the pain of moving forward.  If the fathers who follow Dad of Divas have any doubts about the seriousness of this epidemic, these videos will change their minds. As a long-time stay-at-home dad, I know producing these had quite an effect on me, and on all 3 of my kids.
