My Take on the Book
Dickey's barbecue has been serving food in the Dallas area for over seven decades. The original owner's son, Roland, now runs this famous restaurant. The cookbook not only has some great recipes but it is fun to read. The text is infused with humor throughout the book. Roland has included tips like "How to Host a Cook-Out" and anecdotes about the dish or its ingredients. The authors included photographs of most of the entries in the book .

I made two of the recipes. The first one was Southern Sun Tea. The proportions of water to tea were accurate and the sun here in the Midwest did a fine job brewing the tea. The second recipe I prepared was Aunt Marion's Coffee Cake. The recipe was an actual recipe of Roland's aunt . The preparation steps were easy to follow and the ingredients were common ones most would have in their home pantry. The result was delicious. The coffee cake was moist and light and the cinnamon and nutmeg were a perfect combination . I think your entire family will enjoy eating this cake.
