About the Book

Reality TV, constant status updates, endless "selfies," and publicly posted videos that document everything from first steps to falling flat on your face…today's kids are growing up with a very unique sense of self. This book challenges kids to ask themselves the question, What does it mean to be me?, and gives them the scientific and sociological tools to really explore the answers. Using a playful approach that incorporates visual puzzles, quizzes, memory tests, and other fun tactics, The Ultimate Book About Me delves into the real facts behind deeply engaging questions like:

  • Am I really unique?
  • How well do I know my body?
  • What does it mean to be a boy or a girl?
  • How do I remember things?
  • How much of me will survive beyond my lifetime?

Tons of colorful graphics help convey the subject matter (from the inner workings of the brain to hormones and genetics) in a kid-friendly format. A glossary provides deeper understanding. Full-color illustrations throughout.

My Take on the Book
Richard Platt has written a book full so many different kinds of information . It includes facts about a person's genes, body, brain, face, and memory. Then there are sections about the senses, emotions, ancestors, and more.

There are pages with basic facts about each heading which are very interesting. The reader can take a quiz and then find the answers on the next page.

I enjoyed reading the section on the brain and locating the parts of the brain which dealt with anger, fear, and smell among others.

So much more in this book. You and your child will enjoy learning so many new facts together. I can see it as a family resource.
