Spaghetti Smiles

About the Book
Every day after school, Jake visits his uncle Rocco at his Crazy, Mixed-Up Italian Restaurant, where Jake reads his newest books to Rocco and then they bowl with mozzarellas and play pick-up-sticks with spaghetti. When the restaurant needs a new neighbor, can Jake convince Mrs. Page to move her bookstore next door, so he and Uncle Rocco can still have fun and read together? Young readers will enjoy imagining what would happen if a wacky pasta restaurant and quiet bookstore became neighbors.

My Take on the Book
Uncle Rocco needs a neighbor beside his Italian restaurant. Jake, his nephew, tries to find a business in town that will move next to his uncle but they all have excuses. Eventually Paige's Bookstore agrees to move and the owner has the same positive upbeat outlook on life that matches Uncle Rocco's.

You will wish you had an uncle who was as much fun as Uncle Rocco. After reading this story you may want to make the family spaghetti too. This story by Margo Sorenson will become a favorite.
