About the Movie
Robin Williams and Nathan Lane team up with a top-notch cast in this hilarious comedy. Williams delivers an uproarious performance as Armand, a gay cabaret owner whose son announces he’s marrying the daughter of a right-wing politician (Gene Hackman). It’s an outrageously funny culture clash as Armand and his drag-queen partner Albert (Lane) try to transform themselves into straight shooters at a dinner party and pull the chiffon over the eyes of the uptight senator and his wife (Dianne Wiest).

My Take on the Movie
While I know that not everyone knows that this is a more up-to-date version of "La Cage Aux Folles", viewers will be drawn in by not only a great cast, but also a wonderfully written script that is fun and real. Robbin Williams and Nathan Lane do amazing jobs in their leading roles. You are able to experience and appreciate their love and relationship and add in the conservative beliefs of Gene Hackman and his "family" and you get a fun movie that the whole family will enjoy. There is so much humor throughout and you will find yourself laughing while also feeling the hurt of the familial ties that also connects you to the dramatic undertone and important messages that are shared. All-in-all this is a great movie that I would recommend to any and all!
