About the Book
On a hike with her Buttercup troop, Sofia must prove to an overprotective Baileywick and King Roland that princesses need to (and can) do things on their own. In this Level 1 reader with simple text and word repetition, young children will be able to enjoy this Sofia the First story on their own.

My Take on the Book
Sophia is a princess. She and her friends are Buttercups (similar to the Girl Scouts organization). They need to earn badges. The girls and their leader are heading into the woods to earn more badges.

Sophia's parents are worried so send an adult friend to help her. He is really not helping her in the end and she ends up rescuing him.

Eventually Sophia is able to show everyone she has the knowledge to earn her badges and the courage to follow through on her commitments.

Since this is a level one reader, many words are repeated and the illustrations assist with the text.

It is a nice story for your young female reader.
