About the Movie
A group of dancers congregate on the stage of a Broadway theater to audition for a new musical. After the initial eliminations, 16 hopefuls remain. As the film unfolds, the backstory of each of the dancers is revealed. Some are funny, some ironic, some heartbreaking. No matter what their background, however, they all have one thing in common - a passion for dance.

My Take on the Movie
I had seen the live play long ago and when I received this movie I wondered how it would compare. I was not disappointed in the movie.

I enjoyed the music, the story line, getting to know the characters, and watching the amazing energy and dancing on stage.

The actors portray their characters so well. You are able to understand that each of them has a life story and with most it was tragic. You feel their desperation because they need the " job" or position in this musical.

Michael Douglas is excellent as the choreographer. He plays the hard nosed hatchet man who also has a soft side he rarely shows in his "job". His empathy may seem rare as he deals with excusing individuals who are not the quality for his show, but when his love interest Cassie shows up, you see a softer and loving side of him. His goal , of course, is to hire the very best no matter what for his show.

If you enjoy musicals, I believe you will want to see this movie : A CHORUS LINE.
