About the Book
Emily Jeanne Miller’s debut novel tells the story of a man’s journey from son to father in the wake of heartbreak. 36-year-old, stay-at-home dad Logan Pyle has just lost his father and walked in on his emotionally distant wife with another man. He escapes north with his 4-year-old son Owen in tow, making a series of bad decisions and encountering worse luck before finding himself at his young, newly widowed step-mother’s door. Despite their troubled past, she takes him in, unexpectedly clearing the pathway to redemption and transformation for both of them.

My Take on the Book
The mark of a good book for me is one that draws me in from page one and this book definitely did. Upon receiving this book I started reading and from even the first paragraph I was intrigued.
"My name is Logan Pile, My father is dead, my wife is indifferent and my son is strange. I am thirty-six years old. My life is nothing like I thought it would be."
As I kept reading the book kept getting better and better in my perspective. The author did an amazing job at developing her characters and even though they are not perfect they are human and are ones that as a reader I could identify with.

The author also creates some great tension between the relationships in the story that keeps the book alive and continues to make you wonder what is coming next. As a reader you feel for the main character and all of the challenges that he has and is going through and you hope in the end that things will work out better.

This is an emotion-laden book, but one that you too will not be able to put down!
