Book Review - Princess Stella Gets Sad

About the Book
Princess Sophia is scared of lots of things thankfully she has a special saying that helps calm her fears.

About the Author
Molly Martin has always envisioned herself as a princess. While she doesn't live in a castle or rule over a kingdom, she has made a magical life for herself in Minnesota. Molly enjoys writing on her front porch (which she pretends is a balcony) while sipping tea (okay, it's actually Diet Coke). When she needs extra inspiration, she pulls out her best tiara (which is actually a Minnesota Twins baseball cap) and magic wand (which is a fancy purple pen with a feather on it).

My Take on the Book
All children have times they feel sad. There may be an incident at school, an encounter with a friend or sibling, hurt feelings, etc. Children need to find ways to express their sadness and to find loving adults to discuss their sadness with at these times in their lives. After reading the story, discuss Stella's sadness with our child and then refer to the times your child feels sad. Be open and listen to their words. If there is an opportunity to problem solve with them you will find the avenue to do it in a loving and safe way.
