Book Review - Family Inc.: Office-Inspired Solutions to Reduce the Chaos in Your Home (and Save Your Sanity!)

About FAMILY INC.:
Authors Caitlin and Andrew met while working at a thriving public relations firm. Fifteen years, a wedding, twins, house, and three careers later they found themselves drowning in the minutiae of daily life and responsibilities, too stressed out to enjoy what little time they had together. But then, on a long car ride, inspiration struck: When at work, their lives felt so orderly, so well-managed. FAMILY INC. offers the remarkable results of incorporating the systems they used in the office into their home lives.

Using the tools offered in this book, readers will learn how to:

  • Organize productive family meetings
  • Adopt an effective household management style
  • Establish your “family culture” (i.e., the way in which your values are reflected in how your prioritize things at home)
  • Delegate effectively and assign age-appropriate tasks to kids

My Take on the Book
This was a great book that provided me with an amazing array of ideas on how to better organize my home and my family. What I loved about the book was that it shared ideas that I use on a regular basis at my day job, but would have never thought about implementing them at home. The book is very down-to-earth and shares personal experiences and stories about their authors' own lives and makes these experiences tangible for everyone who is reading the book.

I also enjoyed how the book was laid out and all of the little subsections within the book where there were pull-outs/asides for the authors to speak about related issues within chapters. This, along with the overall flow of the book made the book very easy to read and I could tell from the very beginning that this would be a book that I would be coming back to many times in the future.

This was a great book that I encourage all parents to read!
