Book Review - Literacy Play: Over 300 Dramatic Play Activities that Teach Pre-Reading Skills

About the Book
Children love to pretend, and dramatic play is the perfect environment for children to practice and apply literacy concepts. Whether they decide to be firefighters, to open a pet store, or to have a tea party, children will increase their vocabulary, communicate with their peers, and learn to recognize environmental print—all important skills for prereaders. Literacy Play is chock-full of creative dramatic play activities that teach important pre-reading skills while bringing children’s imaginations to life!

My Take on the Book
We all know how dramatic young children can be, so why not combine the idea of dramatic play with learning,  makes sense to me! As a parent of a 7 & 3.5 year old, and a father who encounters drama daily, this book and the amazing 300+ activities will keep you and your kids on a learning adventure for some time to come.

What I loved most was that the book incorporates a traditional lesson with outside ways to encourage the learning to continue. Whether this was through art, crafts or other projects, you can easily implement the activities and make some very fun things for the families of the youngster.

The book really is just fun and the best part, the majority of the activities get the kids to be incentive and creative with the items they are provided, so they end up coming up with some very fun things in the end.

I highly recommend this book to all who work with preschool age children or who have this age children, as it will open your eyes and help you tremendously.
