Book Review - Maisy at the Beach

About the Book
What’s even better than a new Maisy book?

A new Maisy book with stickers!

Maisy and company have a full day of fun in Maisy at the Beach, collecting shells, building a sandcastle, and feasting on tasty snacks. Young readers join in the fun as they complete the scenes with more than 25 full-color, reusable stickers.

About the Author
Lucy Cousins is one of today’s most acclaimed young author-illustrators of children’s books. "I draw by heart," she says. "I think of what children would like by going back to my own childlike instincts." And what instincts! More than six million copies of Maisy books have now been sold worldwide. Lucy Cousins lives in rural Hampshire, England, with her four children — ample inspiration for Maisy‘s future adventures.

My Take on the Book
My kids have been Maisy fans for some time and even though they are getting older, they still love to see and hear about Maisy's adventures. On our trip to the beach I gave this book to my youngest to look through and of course the stickers were a great draw. The story was fun and interactive. The only thing I would have wished for were reusable stickers so that the book has an overall longer shelf life (at least when it comes to my kids). For me this was the biggest drawback. That being said, I had no qualms about the book itself and my kids enjoyed reading it, but the story does revolve around the placement of the stickers and once they are placed, there is not as much to do in the book. If the stickers had been removable, you would have had the chance to be able to have these sticker experiences over and over again, which my girls would have loved!
