Book Review - Wilson and the White House Pups

About the Book
Wilson the adopted poodle meets many of the dogs who have had the rare opportunity to live in the White House alongside our Presidents and their families. From Rover Washington to Bo Obama, Wilson goes back in time and learns some very interesting historical facts about the White House Pups. Did you know 31 Presidents had dogs at the White House? Which dog liked to ride in a convertible? Who was the first Presidential dog to be photographed? Which dog had his own cabnet chair? Beautifully illustrated , historically accurate and a great way to teach children about American history. Dog lovers will enjoy the many different breeds of dogs in the book. My Take on the Book
Susan Castriota has written several Wilson books. This is an informative and delightful book you and your child will enjoy reading together.

Susan researched the lives of our United States Presidents and found information pertaining to the kinds of pets and especially the dogs that were owned by the Presidents. She included their names and some illustrations so the reader can visually see what the dog looked like. Some were very tiny and others were quite large. The names chosen were interesting.
Many of the dogs were gifts from international leaders and one dog was a pup of the first Russian sputnik dog that traveled into space.

It was interesting to learn that some of the dogs were important outside of being a White House pet. President Clinton's dog , Buddy, actually raised money for charities after Hiliary Clinton wrote a book about him.

If you love dogs and are curious about the pets who lived in the White House, you will certainly enjoy this book.
