Book Review - Together: Growing Appetites for God

About the Book
Overwhelmed and discouraged with her own lack of personal devotion to God’s word, and with four small children requiring her attention, Carrie Ward knew something had to change. So, armed with a much-prayed-over plan, Carrie decided to read the entire Bible with her children—infant through preschool age—and began reading one chapter out loud over breakfast each morning. Within a matter of weeks she began to see a transformation in her family as Scripture guided their lives in a new way. Just in time for Mother’s Day, Ward’s easy-to-read new book, Together: Growing Appetites for God (Moody Publishers, April 2012), is part personal story and part practical guide for other moms also desiring to impart biblical truths to their little ones. In Together, Ward speaks from her perspective as an everyday mama who learned to lead her children through the Bible, and how they grew to love it.

My Take on the Book
This book is great if you are looking for ways and inspiration regarding one mother's quest at reading the bible to her children while they were young. The author writes in a fun and engaging way and her use of humor makes the reading the book light but at the same time meaningful. I can see after reading this that this process is not an easy one and instead it is one that takes some definite time and effort. What was best for me were the guiding questions in each chapter which helped me to grapple and better understand what I was reading and translate this into action.
