Book Review - Help Wanted: Moms Raising Daughters

About the Book
Published in association with OakTara, Help Wanted: Moms Raising Daughters is flavored with honesty, humor, compelling stories and creative solutions. It navigates the 13 jobs moms must accomplish in the dynamic, yet often challenging mother-daughter relationship to make the maximum difference in their girl’s life including Coach, Media, Director, Professor of Gender Studies, Time Manager, Military Strategist and more.

In talking about her new project Darlene stated: “This book is about what I learned - about the jobs you need to master, the advice from other women that helped me, as well as some realities about the life and culture we live in that informed my perspective. You can take on the most difficult job in the world – raising daughters – and not only live to tell about it, but smile along the way.”

About the Author
While raising her two daughters, Darlene found time to produce award-winning music videos, manage recording artists, promote concerts throughout the US, and serve as the Chief Operating Officer of ForeFront Records. Yet, when reviewing her varied accomplishments and successful career, she proclaims her most important and fulfilling job is Mom.Since the publication of Help Wanted: moms raising daughters, Darlene Brock has appeared on the Fox & friends morning show, and been featured on CNN.com, TLC's Parentables, CBN.com, Fox News.com, Beliefnet, Christian Post, Keepthefaith.com and many other radio programs and numerous blogs and websites for Women. This book is about what I learned - about the jobs you need to master, the advice from other women that helped me, as well as some realities about the life and culture we live in that informed my perspective. I want all mothers to believe they can take on the most difficult job in the world - raising daughters - and not only live to tell about it, but smile along the way.In Early 2011 Darlene with husband Dan, co-founded The Grit and Grace Project. The purpose of this organization is to assist women in reaching their full potential and find purpose as Individuals, Wives and Mothers.

My Take on the Book
As I am not a mother of daughters but instead a father, I took a different read on this book. I have to say that even though I am a father, I still appreciated what the author had to say in this book. I found the book to be an easy to understand that is filled with so many great examples and practical advice! I loved all of the anecdotes that the author shares and stories that make the resources being shared so much more real for the reader.

The author takes her own experience and makes it real for the reader and because the author writes in such a way that allows you to be a part of the action, you can see and feel what the author is going through which makes the book that much easier to read and understand!

Whether you have daughters that are young or are in their teenage years this book will give you some great advice in helping you to form a great relationship with your daughters that will last for many years to come.
