Book Review - I'm Not Tired Yet

About the Book
We’ve all heard it…what’s the phrase that ALWAYS follows “Time For Bed?”

I’M NOT TIRED YET!

We did it to our parents and now beloved author and illustrator Marianne Richmond is making it easier for this generation of parents and babysitters. Filled with Richmond’s signature warm illustrations, I’m Not Tired Yet! will hopefully make bedtime just a little bit easier—or at least more fun!

Inspired by Marianne’s eldest son, six-year-old Ralphie invents every excuse to delay his bedtime. His perceptive mom, however, sees his stalling as her invitation to engage Ralphie in a silly series of kisses, hugs, pinches and pokes—all inspired by his favorite animals and each leaving the twosome in a heap of giggles.

“I’m not tired yet,” said Ralphie, “and, Mom, there’s a problem here…
A big mosquito in my room is buzzing in my ear!”

“Ralphie,” said his mom, amused, and joined him in a huddle,

“Could it be that what you need is a cozy polar bear cuddle?”

“I think I do,” said Ralphie.

I’m Not Tired Yet inspires a playful, endearing bedtime routine that leaves kids and grownups looking forward to nighttime, no matter how strong the allure of playtime.

About the Author:

Marianne Richmond turned a personal tragedy into a motivational vehicle, becoming an award-winning author and selling over a million books in the process.

Her career was launched by accident; she was diagnosed with a brain tumor (thankfully benign), the cause of numerous epileptic seizures through her childhood. During her five-week recovery period, Marianne created hand-painted thank you cards for her many well-wishers. With Jim’s, her new boyfriend, and friend’s encouragement, she decided to launch her own greeting card business, Marianne Richmond Studios, Inc. As distribution for her cards increased, she decided to try her hand at writing a book, honoring her biggest fan, her now-husband Jim, with The Gift of an Angel.

Beginning with her first book in 1997, Gift of An Angel, writer and artist Marianne has touched the lives of millions over the past decade through her line of greeting cards and gift books. Since then she has become a recognized creator of numerous books that celebrate milestones in life, memorable journeys, and relationships. Marianne currently lives in Minneapolis, MN with her even-keeled husband, Jim, their four kids, and their senior citizen Border Collie, Clay. Find out more at her website www.mariannerichmond.com

My Take on the Book
Do you have a child that does not want to got to sleep at night? Are there hugs and kisses, checking for monsters or mosquitoes, and do you still hear "I AM NOT TIRED YET" ?

This is a nice book to bridge the gap with these kind of bedtime challenges. It shows a mother with amazing patience while she reacts to her child's wishes to stay awake. She does everything she can to help him settle down so he can sleep. It is also a story about bedtime rituals, which you may have with your child each night.

The story will bring laughter to you and if you are a grandparent, maybe some fond memories of tucking in your child at night. Enjoy!
