Book Review - Injustice for All

About the Book
We’ve all followed those court cases in the media, when it seemed the verdict was just a bit off. So when it comes to the American legal system, who can you really trust?

That’s the question at the heart of Robin Caroll’s high-paced thriller, Injustice for All (January 2012, B and H Fiction, $14.99, Trade Paper). Opening with the murder of a federal judge, the book uncovers layers of the law: Both its ardent defenders, and its master manipulators.

“While watching a trial, I wondered what would happen if those we assume to be upstanding in the justice system, weren't,” says Caroll. “I watched dozens of cases, and interviewed a former US Attorney, a parole hearing judge, and FBI agents to find out just how common it is for insiders to play the system.”

When Judge Daniel Tate is killed his goddaughter, FBI-trained Remington Wyatt, witnesses the whole thing. But instead of becoming the murderer’s next target, she flees the scene, and quickly uses her FBI skills to shed her old identity – forever.

FBI Agent Rafe Baxter, hungry for a promotion, discovers the files of Judge Tate’s death. By then it’s a cold
case, but something tells him to dig deeper. The investigation leads him to the shadowy town of Hopewell,
Louisiana, where some secrets seem inextricably hidden deep within the bayou.

When Rafe approaches Hopewell police commissioner Hayden Simpson about the case, he presents him with
an interesting discovery: The murdered judge kept Hayden’s birth certificate on him for 36 years. Now, why
would he keep the birth announcement of a stranger? More importantly, why is Hayden’s best friend, Bella,
sweating Rafe’s visit? Because to Rafe … she looks oddly familiar.

Clues indicate that there’s someone who stood to benefit a great deal from Judge Daniel Tate’s death. But it isn’t the criminals he’s brought to justice. And the killer is closer than anyone realizes.

My Take on the Book
This was a great story that definitely kept you on the edge of my seat from the beginning to end of the book. I was amazed  There were so many twists and turns that I have to say that I did not know what was going to come next. I was happy to find a great collection of deep character development as well as complex plot. All-in-all I was very happy with the overall story and book itself and if you enjoy a story that keeps you going throughout, you will end up loving to get this book for yourself.
