Book Review - Hailey Twitch and the Campground Itch

About the Book
Hailey Twitch and the Campground Itch (ages 7 – 10) is the third book in a fun, new series featuring a seven-year-old mastermind who tries really hard not to blame her invisible friend Maybelle for getting her into heaps of delicious trouble.  Author Lauren Barnholdt brings Hailey Twitch to both hilarious and heart-warming life. Watch out Ramona, Judy, Ivy, and Bean—Hailey has a style and voice like no other!

The only thing better than a long weekend is going camping on a long weekend! Not only will Hailey get to make s’mores and hot dogs, sing around the campfire, and get dirty, but she also gets to bring her best friend with her! The only downsides are the dark and Hailey’s sister’s friend, who is always mean to Hailey. But when Hailey’s sister and her friend sneak off to a tree house in the night and get stuck, Hailey and the magical sprite Maybelle could be the only ones who can help them.

My Take on the Book

This book an great read for younger readers. I know that the book is geared for readers that are between 9-12, but my 6 year old enjoyed it (though she is reading at a much higher level than typical). We read through it together and we both enjoyed it. Actually, seeing that this was the first in the series that we read, my eldest has already said that she would like to read the other books in the series as well.

While I would not always read a book like this myself, I know that it is a book that my daughters would definitely read and I got confirmation of this as we read this together.

I will say that this book was a fun read and the characters were very memorable. You definitely find yourself cheering on Hailey and wondering what will come next. My daughter and I are looking forward to the other books in this series!
