Tip for book-buying

A cool coffee table book for mom, Pat the Bunny for the new baby, a wine guide for dad…books makes great gifts – but for eco-conscious shoppers looking to save some cash, what’s the alternative to buying brand-new, full-price titles?

Hope you’ll consider flagging up Better World Books, the socially-conscious online used bookseller, when you make book recommendations to your readers.  The company sells millions of used titles online (as well as on Amazon.com and other sites) that might otherwise have ended up in a landfill, and gives a percentage of the proceeds to literacy groups worldwide.

Some quick facts:
  • Books saved from landfills: 37,168,902
  • Shipping is free in the US (flat rate of $3.97 anywhere else in the world), and every order is shipped carbon neutral with offsets from Carbonfund.org
  • Funds raised for global literacy: $8,895,851.32 and counting

All opinions expressed in this review are my own and not influenced in any way by the company.  Any product claim, statistic, quote or other representation about a product or service should be verified with the manufacturer or provider. Please refer to this site's Disclaimer  for more information. I have been compensated or given a product free of charge, but that does not impact my views or opinions.
