Save the Children Holiday Gift Guide!

It is that time of year when your readers are beginning to put together their holiday shopping lists.  If you are looking to feature unique items for your readers this holiday season that will make a world of difference in improving children’s lives, Save the Children has numerous gifts sure to warm hearts and souls on everyone’s list.

1. To start, we have unique gifts in our annual 2010 Gift Catalog that give back to children and families in the poorest communities in the world. A few of our best-sellers include:

Goats: For $40, this gift will provide a struggling family in drought-affected areas a much needed source of food and protein-rich dairy products and a valuable source of income.
SPECIAL: Buy one goat and get the second one free!

Educate a Girl: For $65, this gift will provide vitals such as books, education materials and teacher training to help a girl attend – and stay – in school for an entire year.

(Photos illustrating these and other gifts in the catalog are available.)

2. If your readers are looking for the perfect inexpensive stocking stuffer, Save the Children has partnered with IKEA to offer adorable stuffed soft toys under $10. For every toy sold, 1 euro (approximately $1.35 US dollar) will go to Save the Children and UNICEF to extend and start new children’s educational programs in 22 countries.   (Photos of the soft toys are available, as well as toys that you can use as a give-away feature on your blog.)

3. For luxury items, we have an exquisite sterling sliver and ceramic ring that Bulgari exclusively created to benefit Save the Children. The new ring features the agency’s engraved logo on the inside, and will be sold in international Bulgari stores, select department stores, and on Bulgari's website for $370. For each ring sold, Bulgari will donate $75 to Save the Children’s education programs in the U.S. and around the world.  The donation will go to providing teacher training and art education and therapy, known as our Healing and Education through ART program, to help children cope by channeling their emotional distress through their unique artistic voices.

You can learn more about the ring campaign here and on Bulgari’s website.
