Book Review - Aerial the Spider Books

Aerial the Spider Returns in Second of Six Books in Exciting New Series for Kids
 That Simultaneously
Promotes Good Fun and Fundamental Values

Author Nancy E. Rewalt's Aerial the Spider series stars a courageous young orb weaver spider born with significant disabilities. In the first book in the series, Aerial: A Spider's Tale, readers cheer Aerial on as he overcomes his challenges in a most surprising way, and in the process demonstrates great courage, fortitude, and forgiveness.

In Rewalt's newly released second book in the series, Aerial: A Trip to Remember, Aerial and his good friends Springer and Trap decide to go on a camping trip. Fraught with hilarious pranks and unexpected danger, this tale about the solidarity of friendship highlights "joyful comradery and the fruits of cooperation and selflessness" as the trio of spiders embarks on their surprisingly perilous journey into the woods.

Rewalt notes that each story in her series builds on the one before with new characters and old friends, and all the stories exemplify the trials and tribulations of growing up, encountering challenges, and working together to overcome them.

Aerial: A Trip to Remember has been endorsed by the Michigan Reading Association and is available at www.amazon.com and www.aerial-the-spider.com. A percentage of book sales will be donated to The Smile Train to help children with cleft palates in third world countries.

My Take on the Books
These books were charming and did an amazing job at weaving a tale that combines by great storytelling and science. I loved all of the underlying messages that the author infuses within the books themselves. Not only is the reader learning about friendships, but also about topics such as disabilities, using determination to learn and grow, and the importance of love and loyalty.

These stories are surrounded with beautiful artwork which tie these messages together and draw the reader further into the story itself. My daughters loved the books and kept wanting to take the books from me to simply look at the pictures themselves.

So if you are interested in learning more about Spiders, as well as more about the spirit of friendships, these books are definitely ones that you should look into.
