Book Review - The Definitive Guide to Government Contracts

About the Book
In fiscal year 2008, small businesses received more than $93 billion in federal prime contracts, according to the Small Business Administration. Federal regulations state that any government agency planning to make a purchase of $100,000 or less must reach out to a small business and purchase goods and services from them whenever possible. There are many federal agencies, with a variety of different responsibilities and mandates, but each agency needs to purchase goods and services in order to function.

The Definitive Guide to Government Contracts: Everything You Need to Know to Apply for and Win Federal and GSA Schedule Contracts can help any small business seize these sales opportunities. No prior knowledge of the government marketplace is needed!
Written in a clear, easy-to-understand language by experienced sales and marketing professionals, with more than 30 years of experience in the marketplace, The Definitive Guide to Government Contracts covers every step of the process: finding the opportunities; understanding the requirements; registering your company and submitting the bid; and shipping, packaging, and invoicing requirements. The same step-by-step approach is used to explain the increasingly popular GSA contract, from researching the schedules, preparing the paperwork, and submitting a proposal to the all-important marketing that is required once the contract has been awarded.

There are an estimated 10,000 government sales opportunities each day. One of the biggest misconceptions about federal contracting is that business can’t make a profit. This is not true! The only way to know if a business is going to be competitive is to get involved. The Definitive Guide to Government Contracts can help business owners identify the bid opportunities and help them get involved.

My Take on this Book
I have worked with gobernment grants in the past but contracts are a whole different thing. This book was filled with mazing resources and guides that will give anyone who is looking for moving into doing business with the government. Topics include finding and using federal business opportunity sites, writing solicitation documents, service contracts, GSA rules, meeting requirements, and how to proceed once awarded a contract.

What I liked best was that the book had everything within it, from forms to step-by-step processes that one should take to work with givernment agencies.
The book was well written and easily searchable and is a must have for anyone looking into solidifying these contracts in the future!

If this book sounds like a book that you would like for your own library you can find it on Amazon!
