Book Review - Today I Feel . . .: An Alphabet of Emotions

Today I Feel . . .: An Alphabet of Emotions

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Beautifully illustrated by Madalena Moniz’s subtle watercolors, Today I Feel . . . follows a child through a whole range of emotions, from adored to curious to strong. Not all of the emotions are positive and not all of them are simple, but they are all honest and worthy of discussion with a young child.

My Take on the Book
This is a very cute story with a unique look at the alphabet. I loved the connections between the alphabet and emotions. Each page is also beautifully illustrated to help the story come alive even fuller. This is a great book that makes learning your alphabet fun and allows you to talk with your kids about their feelings too. This is a must read!

Book Review - Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! The Good for Nothing Button

Elephant & Piggie Like Reading! The Good for Nothing Button
 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Yellow Bird has a button. It does . . . nothing! It is a good for nothing button. Red Bird and Blue Bird are excited to try the button. But when they press it, they discover that the button makes them happy. Happy is something! A flabbergasted Yellow Bird insists the button does nothing. But it sure does seem to be making him mad. Mad is something!

The hilarious debate that follows takes readers on an emotional roller coaster that pokes at the power of imaginative play.

My Take on the Book
Another great book from an amazing author. This funny bird is one that my daughters just loved. It was so funny to see the bird getting so mad when the button does nothing. I could relate this to some experiences as a parent and watching my own kids doing things and seeing their frustration when things did not work in the way that they wanted it to. This is a quick, fun read that all families should read together!

Book Review - 7 Ate 9 by Tara Lazar

7 Ate 9 by Tara Lazar
 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book

6 has a problem.

Everyone knows that 7 is always after him. Word on the street is that 7 ate 9. If that's true, 6's days are numbered. Lucky for him, Private I is on the case. But the facts just don't add up.

It's odd.

Will Private I put two and two together and solve the problem . . . or is 6 next in line to be subtracted?

My Take on the Book
This was a fun story with a tun of puns and humor. You will love the story and the characters in this and while I have heard the joke that this book came from originally I never would have thought of looking at the story in this way, but now that I have seen it this way I am so glad that I did and you will be too!

But Louie isn't giving up. His irrepressible spirit can't be tamed. And he's about to take a big bite out of the Big Apple so he can see his name in lights!

My Take on the Book
This was a hilarious book that brings in so many memorable characters. I mean what other story brings in unicorns, mermaids, trolls and more. This book has a little of everything and is funny to boot. The story was a quick read and my girls absolutely adored the entire thing! For me, I appreciated the tenacity and strong will of Louie as his never give up attitude is something that I have continued to try to teach my own kids in my own way!

 photo disclaimer_zpsd3x74ej2.jpg

About the Book
Q: What do you need to become a great fairy godmother?

a) kindness

Fairy-godmother-in-training Isabelle doesn't know what gusto is, but she's pretty sure she has what it takes to pass fairy godmother training with flying colors.

My Take on the Book
This was a very funny book that allows you to see a fairy godmother in training that may not be the best fairy godmother but you can definitely give her credit for trying. Another great book from Carole Roman. I have read a number of her books over the years and all are so well written and really allow you o get lost in the story itself. This book was very interesting and allows you to explore the Ancient Mali Empire. The thing that always intrigues me by the authors' books is how much research she puts into the books so that you can get a better picture of daily life, culture and more within the worlds that she is sharing with her readers. This book is no different and you leave reading this much more education, but also entertained too!
